Can family planning lead to infertility?- a memoir

“I am not going to take any pill or use any device said the young lady in her late 20s”.

This couple seated in front of me were having a hot argument about the best
way to prevent pregnancy, they have 2 kids 18 months and another 2 weeks old. She got pregnant when the first child was just 9 months old. The distraught or confusion this may have caused the couple, especially the wife can only be in our imagination.

Here they are in front of me, having a mixed look of anger and confusion.

Good day, Mr and Mrs Okonkwo, how may I be of help to you today? I said. They both wanted to speak at the same time but I insisted the lady goes first. She spoke slowly trying to hold back the tears that welled up in her eyes, pharmacist I have 2 kids already, and I need a healthy spacing for my kids for at least 5 years. I am worried that taking pills will hamper my chance of getting pregnant in the future, let my husband use con… abomination!! The man exclaimed before the lady could complete her sentence…I am a titled chief and I paid in full for my wife’s bride price hence I cannot use a condom whilst making love to her.
