Do you know that more than 40 million people in the world have an anxiety disorder? From intense worrying to panic attacks, every adult is trying to fight with something each day. You might not be under those adults, but if you face anxiety, here are some quick tips to reduce your anxiety in less than 5-minutes.
- Change Your Posture:
If you are sitting down, stand up. If you are already standing, go for a walk, and if you are lying down, sit up.
The idea is to change your posture, and the magic will happen.
Go For 5–5–5 Game:
When you are anxious, you’re basically stuck in a negative thought loop. To break the loop, you can look around the room and notice 5 things that you see. Next, close your eyes and listen to the first 5 things that you hear. Make 5 body movements: rotate your hand, nod your head, or wiggle your ears.
3. Watch A Funny Video:
I prefer watching any episode from the Mr.Bean series. Only aliens can see Mr.Bean and don’t react to it. Or you can watch Tom & Jerry cartoon. When you laugh, it relaxes your body, stimulates your heart & spikes your endorphins driving you away from anxiety.
No, you don’t have to a meditation guru to kick off your anxiety. Close your eyes, take deep breaths. Inhale, hold for 5 minutes, exhale, hold for 5 minutes. Don’t try to think anything else. Focus on your breathing, and right after 2-minutes, your anxiety will be gone. You can even count your blessings with closed eyes. Your home, family, friends, a job, and even some talent. Remember that every person is blessed with countless things. Being grateful is a sure-shot way to get anxiety out of the way.
- 5. Listen To The Most Relaxing Song
This song is engineered to calm your nerves and get you out of anxiety. Listen to this on loop, and within few minutes, you’ll feel grateful for the gift of life. You can listen to your favorite song to relax your mind. For me, it’s a rain sound. I play it, and it helps me cope up with whatever I am feeling.
6. Visualize The Good Times
This one is my personal favorite. Whenever I feel down, I close my eyes and imagine my school days in my mind’s eye. Those early carefree days make me happy. You can do the same. Close your eyes and remember the good times. You can do this as many times as you want in a day. It demands few minutes but drives you out of anxiety.
It’s normal to feel anxious about things. But now you know how to kick that anxiety out of your life. Remember that you have the power to control your thoughts. To end your anxiety follow the tips mentioned above.
